The Philadelphia Folksong Society is very proud to announce the in-person lineup for their 59½ Philadelphia Folk Festival - Pocket-Sized Edition on Saturday and Sunday, August 21-22, taking place at the Spring Mountain Ski Area in Upper Salford Township, PA. Tickets are available for purchase now, offering general admission tickets, digital tickets and PODS (up to 6 people). Learn more and purchase yours at folkfest.org

This August 21st and 22nd, the Pocket-Sized PFF will celebrate its 59 ½ anniversary at the beautiful Spring Mount Ski Area in Upper Salford Township, about a mile from our long-time home on the farm, but will look a little different this year due to pandemic restrictions. The Folksong Society is excited to present a limited capacity event that will offer both the artists and the attendees a gentle re-entry into live music gatherings. Digital tickets are available for our global attendees to watch from home along with in-person tickets for one thousand patrons per day to come to see and hear these incredible artists:

On Saturday, we will welcome:

Bettye LaVette, Dustbowl Revival, Katie Pruitt, Davina & The Vagabonds, Miko Marks, Twisted Pine, Heather Maloney, Matt Nakoa, Rachel Andie & The Fifth Element, Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise, John Byrne Band, and Driftwood Soldier

There will also be a special PFF59.5 Celebration with the Fralinger String Band to kick things off and no doubt, set the tone for a weekend of music and merriment!

On Sunday, we will welcome:

David Bromberg Quintet, Livingston Taylor, Susan Werner, Flor De Toloache, Dom Flemons, Raye Zaragoza, Vanessa Collier, Stella Ruze, Laura Lizcano, The Hoppin’ Boxcars, Ac Sapphire, and Valentina Sounds

Fan favorite John Flynn will be our most gracious musical host for both days, welcoming each artist to the stage and providing some wonderful musical interludes. Festival staple, The Give & Take Jugglers, will be on hand to delight folkies of all ages.

PFS is proud to offer three stages for the 59 ½ Pocket Festival, the Front Porch Stage will feature astounding archival footage from nearly forty years of Festivals. Our Camp Stage will feature acts from around the world, right here in our backyard, and lesser heard voices that need to be amplified. And our Martin Stage will be steamed LIVE from Spring Mountain Ski Area - less than a mile down the road from the Old Pool Farm.

Spring Mountain is a long-standing destination slope in Montgomery County, offering ample amenities and a natural amphitheater to present music to 1000 guests of our in-person event, in 92 six person PODS (priced from $85 - $150 per person, per day) with limited general admission tickets to watch from the sides or further up the hill.

PFF 59 ½ Pocket-Size Festival Features and Amenities:

The 59 1⁄2 Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival Pocket Sized Edition will allow for the same great features of the 2020 Global Digital Festival, from digital campfires and campsites, to crafts and festival merch, but will allow those artists and crafters to have their goods sold onsite as well. Our digital food tent will be replaced in person with a food truck round up, all safety certified by the Montgomery County Board of Health.

Other in-person amenities will include indoor and portable restrooms, on-site medical, area for children's activities and performers, sponsor and crafter booths, merchandise booth, and the ability to safely and confidently enjoy music with your Folk Family.

About the ‘hybrid’ Festival:

Philadelphia Folk Festival, the oldest continuously run outdoor music festival in North America, after pivoting to a digital presentation for 2020 to give both audiences and artists something to look forward to during the pandemic, is once again pivoting for an exciting celebration in 2021. While the nation and state of Pennsylvania are in the process of re-opening, local and regional authorities where the Festival has taken place have made it clear that PFF is unable to host

our traditional event this year.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take our beloved event and simply shrink it at our current location to meet health and safety requirements. In addition, with an inability to have camping onsite this year, the Philadelphia Folk Festival simply cannot take place on the Old Pool Farm in 2021. However, thanks to the incredible relationship built between Festival & Programming Director Lisa Schwartz and Upper Salford Township, an amazing alternative has appeared.

“This pocket-sized edition of the Philadelphia Folk Festival is the perfect distillation of what

makes our beloved event so special: amazing music and camaraderie shared amidst the beautiful Upper Salford Township landscape - our ‘Goldilocks Festival,’'' said Lisa Schwartz, Festival & Programming Director. ‘It’s just right in every way! We can be together safely and enjoy a wonderful weekend without worry. And, with folkfest.org, we can share some of the best music in the world with the world!’ ‘I am so grateful to the Upper Salford Township Supervisors who continue to provide immeasurable support and guidance, not to mention friendship. We are so very lucky to have these leaders in our corner.’

TICKETS:

General admission tickets are $65/person/day. For those purchasing for both days, we are pleased to offer a 10% discount for the second day.
